Who doesn’t love a good slice of pizza? Dough is known for its artisan wood-fired pizza. My all-time favorite pizza is the “Mushroom Pie" with field mushrooms, Fontina, Ricotta, and Truffle Oil - A divine combination! Aside from their artisan pizzas, there are other appetizers and meals that will delight your palette! Last but not least, the decor! As designers, we’re all about the ambiance. The rustic vibe and cozy feel make this place a great mid-day outing.
2) The Cloverleaf Tavern
In the mood for a burger and beer? Head on over to The Cloverleaf Tavern for an award-winning burger. From bacon-infused burgers to meatless burgers, there is a burger for everyone.
3) The Caldwell Diner
Nothing beats a great local diner! Aside from delicious wraps and sandwiches, you can order breakfast at any time. I love a good omelet but their french toast is the BEST. Plus, their fries are the perfect consistency with a crispy outside and soft mashed potato inside.
4) Calandra’s Italian Village

Looking to take out your client or team somewhere nice? Calandra’s Italian Village is a great restaurant to visit for lunch or dinner. From chicken marsala to pasta or pizza, you can find all popular Italian dishes and everything in between. Don’t forget to visit their bakery on the way out. I highly recommend snagging a few chocolate-covered cannoli and a sfogliatelle (my favorite Italian pastry).
5) Forte Pizzeria & Ristorante
We love a good pizza! Come to Forte Pizzeria & Ristorante for award-winning food and service. Aside from the pizza, the Pasta Fagioli is my personal favorite!
6) Angeloni’s Ristorante and Pizzeria
Yes, another pizzeria makes our list of top places for lunch in Caldwell, NJ - but this isn’t just any pizza. Angeloni’s is famous for their “thinny thin” pizza which is an iconic bar pie slice. This is the type of pizza pie that you can have 5 slices of and not feel guilty about it. I’ll admit, I have easily ate half a pie myself. 7) AJ’s Lunch Box
From breakfast sandwiches to warm subs, AJ’s Lunch Box is the best spot to grab lunch on the go. My favorite sandwich to pick up for lunch is their “Chicken Soprano,” breaded chicken cutlet with Proscuitto, fresh mozzarella cheese, roasted red peppers, and balsamic dressing. Also, their daily specials are great too! Whenever the Chicken Bruschetta Sandwich or the Grilled Veggie panini are available, those are my top picks too!
8) Ocha Asian-Japanese Cuisine
Raw fish isn’t for everyone but I personally love sushi. The “Ocha Roll” is their popular special roll with shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, and avocado wrapped in soybean paper with spicy kabayaki sauce. Looking for a cooked meal instead? Ocha’s entree and hibachi options are great too.
9) Fat Fish Taco
Who doesn’t love tacos? Fat Fish Taco has a variety of unique taco combinations such as the Portobello Mushroom taco, Buffalo Tempura Shrimp Taco, and the Pork Belly Taco. The atmosphere is casual and coastal with a laidback vibe which is the perfect little mid-day break spot from work.

For Portuguese and Brazilian dishes, try Euro Grill for lunch. From barbeque kabobs to Empanadas, every meal tastes authentic and homemade. My personal favorite is the chicken empanada, which has a square shape versus the classic half-moon shape.

Craving Mexican cuisine? From Traditional Tacos to Specialty Tacos, Benji’s Taqueria Las Mexicana is the perfect place for lunch in Caldwell, NJ. You can always count on fresh ingrediants, powerful flavors, and a delicious meal. Looking for something sweet after lunch? Their churros and dipping sauce are to die for!
